of false Bootlegs! - "From
The Vaults of RCA"
the publicity announces a tracklist of potentially exciting
new alternate takes and rehearsals, simple investigation reveals
it to be an obvious rip-off lifting tracks off previous compiles
and releases & containing nothing new.
recently announced new bootleg CD "From The Vaults of
RCA" from Snowball Entertainment is one to be very wary
of - and definitely not from the vaults of RCA!
of the tracks have been culled from the excellent FTD release
Flashback; (ie A Fool Such as I Tk.5;I Got Stung; Tk.8) and the box-set Today
Tomorrow & Forever;I Beg of You; Tk.5 I Need Your Love
Tonight; Tk.4). Movie songs can also be found on the excellent
FTD soundtrack series (i.e. Do
Not Disturb; Tk.27).
worse, other listed alternate takes were never even
recorded and have to be fake!;Wisdom
Of the Ages; never went past Take 5, yet here they say they
have Take 9! It seems obvious that all the Harum Scarum tracks
have been stolen from the previous 2001 label bootleg called
Come What May; which also listed these songs with the same
incorrect alternate take numbers!
the past other unscrupulous bootleggers have gone so far as
to edit alternate intros & take counts onto the beginning
of actual songs to make them appear as new versions. One of
the worst offenders was the old bootleg LP called From The
Beach to the Bayou which needed to be avoided at alkl costs.
Don't be fooled by this similar scam and do check out the
incredibly detailed Master & Session website (www.elvisrecordings.com)
as a guide to a complete and accurate list of Elvis recordings.
Bootlegs of course deprive musicians & songwriters of
their much needed royalties and something like this even manages
to rip-off hard core collectors as well!
it says in the Elvis Bible
- Piers chapter 7:15 - Beware of false bootleggers, which
come to you in sheep's clothing & bearing wonderful new
Elvis songs, because inwardly they are ravening wolves.
