The King Is Dead DVD documentary: Discussions are now underway for Robert Holton's book, The King Is Dead, to be made into a DVD documentary running for around 48-52 minutes. Katco Media publisher, Ryan Katzenbach said: "At that length of time, we could definitely attract the attention of a network or cable channel and possibly sell the rights. It would be our interests in telling this story on a much larger scale than that of just distributing a DVD." Release of the DVD is likely to be at least a year away. (News, Source: Katco Media)

Children's letter to President Eisenhower about Elvis on display: Children have left their mark on American democracy over the years with pens, pencils and crayons, writing to the White House with complaints, suggestions, or opinions on such vital issues as whether Elvis Presley should get a haircut when he joined the Army. Actor Woody Harrelson shows some Elvis action: Oscar nominated actor Woody Harrelson gave Elvis some nice praise on the NBC Jay Leno show last night. Harrelson stated that he had to thank Elvis for his becoming an actor and acknowledged that he was a big Elvis fan. Sounding very similar to an Elvis film, Harrelson explained that his break into acting was when he spontaneously performed Jailhouse Rock for friends in his school library. He was spotted by the High School’s drama teacher & never looked back! Harrelson also showed some great hip-swinging action when he performed an excellent Jailhouse Rock for Jay Leno’s appreciative audience. (News, Source: Foxtel)

New book release - Untold Gold: The Stories Behind Elvis's #1 Hits: Chicago Review Press will publish this book (ISBN: 1556525656) by Ace Collins on January 4, 2005. Here is the information from the publisher on this 272 pages book: "The stories behind the luck, inspiration, and timing that brought hits like "Heartbreak Hotel," "Don't Be Cruel," "In the Ghetto," and "A Little Less Conversation" to life are told in this look at some of the world's most popular hits. Fans will be given the inside story of how these and other of the best known rock songs were written, why they were recorded, and how they became hits. Along the way, they will meet and get to know the men and women who wrote songs for the "King," follow the route these songs took to Elvis, and understand how he reshaped the songs to fit his vision. The author spent countless hours interviewing songwriters, digging through dusty charts, and listening to demos in order to uncover the great stories he tells here. Each song in this book is a commentary on where the world was and what was making it tick, making these songs as much a glimpse into the life of America as into the life of Elvis." Elvis can be king!: Elvstroem, affectionately known to punters as "Elvis", is the forgotten galloper in Tuesday's $4.6 million Emirates Melbourne Cup. However, the four-year-old entire has the chance to write his name into the history books and stake an undeniable claim for Horse of the Year with victory in this famous race. He has the staying ability, combined with a weight-for-age sprint, to become the 12th galloper to win the Caulfield-Melbourne Cup double in the same year. He is at his peak. He won the weight-for-age Underwood Stakes and Turnbull Stakes, and then the Caulfield Cup (2400m) with an all-the-way effort that was a display of raw talent and courage. Elvstroem was rehandicapped 2.5 kg in the Melbourne Cup after his Caulfield Cup success -- an indication handicapper Jim Bowler rates him highly. Although a Melbourne Cup tilt was an after-thought, Elvstroem has thrived and has plenty going in his favour. He has the ability to be handy to the lead and, with his sustained sprint, he should be the one to run them down in the dying stages. Trainer Tony Vasil has the handsome entire at a peak for this race and the stable believes he can stamp himself as a superstar in Australia before heading abroad. Clearly he is the forgotten, or neglected, horse in this race. (News, Source: Sunday Herald Sun)

Elvis eternally popular at Halloween: Pirates, wizards and Elvis - fads come and fads go, but there remain some constants, even when it comes to Halloween costumes. Elvis," said Catherine Inman of Stage Door Costumes in Quincy. Today's pirates may look a lot like Johnny Depp, and the wizards are more along the Harry Potter order, but Elvis is Elvis.
