Elvis Presley's influence and legacy has touched every kind of publication and media platform since he became the world's most successful entertainer of all-time back in the 1950s.
This year would have been Elvis' 90th birthday and thanks to RCA / SONY / FTD / MRS, along with the bootleg labels, nearly every minute of music that Elvis ever recorded has now been released.

In this century Elvis Presley has now become even more of a pivotal role as part of our socio-cultural fabric... his impact / influence is greater than just his music.

Nowadays fans find more literature about Elvis, his life and his legacy being published than “new” music.
“Elvis Presley Book News” will focus on book reviews, news and also the eclectic nature of Elvis across all forms of literature.

Check out these other EIN special features about Elvis authors and Elvis' legacy...

Four New Academic book releases: For readers interested in intellectual writings about Elvis, these four titles were published in the past month....

“King Creole: The Disputed Territories of 1950s American Youth Culture” (Anthony Thomas McKenna, Routledge): This book positions King Creole in the disputed territories of 1950s youth culture. It is one of Elvis’s best regarded films, but one of his least financially successful. It is a portrait of youthful alienation and juvenile delinquency made at a time when these topics were becoming less fashionable in teenpics.
The author argues that King Creole's release during the death throes of rock and roll in America helps to position it as an outlier among youth films of the time in three distinct ways. First, the author demonstrates how the post-rock and roll release of the film allowed for a better harnessing of the star's 'Elvisness.'

Second, the author conducts an extensive examination of the film's production records, which show how the film's portrait of youth alienation and delinquency pre-dated America's big screen fixation on these topics, making the film not wholly bound by concurrent youth conventions.
Third, the author challenges the dominant reading of the film as being about intergenerational conflict and asserts that it is about shared grief. This nuanced approach distinguishes King Creole from other 1950s youth-oriented films and explains its enduring critical acclaim despite commercial underperformance.

“Southern History Remixed: On Rock ‘n’ Roll and the Dilemma of Race” (Michael T. Bertand, University Press of Florida): In this book, Bertrand (author of “Race, Rock and Elvis”) traces a long-term culture war in which white southerners struggled over the region’s cultural complexion with music serving as an engine that both sustained and challenged white supremacy. He shows how rock ‘n’ roll emerged as a working-class genre with bi-racial sources that stoked white racial anxieties and engaged the region’s color and culture lines.

This book discusses the conflict over southern identity that played out in responses to jazz, barn dance radio, Pentecostal and gospel music, Black radio programming, and rhythm and blues. The closing chapter is a close look at the popularity of Elvis Presley within a racially segregated society.

Available in hardback, softcover and Kindle formats.

“Rethinking Elvis” (Mark Duffett ed., Oxford University Press): Decades after his passing, Elvis Presley remains one of popular music's greatest icons. He was among the most successful, influential, socially significant, and controversial performers of the twentieth century, with a celebrity so indelible that every recent American president has negotiated its orbit. While much of the coverage of Elvis' life concerns his personal history and musical ability, Rethinking Elvis pushes beyond the familiar to address Elvis' branding, historical and geographic reception, heritage, and fan phenomenon.

Using Elvis' iconography as a point of departure, popular music scholars and historians contend with issues related to the performer's whiteness, Southern identity, and gender, among others, in turn offering myriad opportunities to pursue new approaches in the emergent field of Elvis studies.

“White Screens, Black Dance: Race & Masculinity in the US at Midcentury” (Pamela Krayenbuhl, Oxford University Press): White Screens, Black Dance analyzes the film and television dances of male screen stars in the United States during the mid-twentieth century. Unpacking the complex physical and visual codes performed by four case studies --the Nicholas Brothers, Gene Kelly, Elvis Presley, and Sammy Davis, Jr.--it argues that each employs Black (Africanist) dance and movement vocabularies in distinct ways, all using them to construct shifting models of masculinity over the course of their careers. In so doing, this book theorizes a practice of appropriation called blackbodying, whereby non-Black performers use Black dance and movement styles without using blackface makeup. Applying methodologies from both film and media studies and dance studies, it offers an interdisciplinary reading of these men's star texts and their screen-dances throughout the midcentury period.

To best understand the nuances of their performances, White Screens, Black Dance considers not only the ever-changing, often ambiguous and contradictory signifiers of racial and gender identity from the 1940s-1960s, but also the ways that class, and the differing industrial and visual environments of Hollywood film vs. broadcast television, further shape how all five men danced their masculinities for the camera(s). It ultimately reveals how these resultant midcentury masculinities have continued to influence danced masculinity ever since.

The book description:

'EPiC' gets epic number of AI generated book releases: EIN Book News notes that there are now at least five books about Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film, EPiC (Elvis Presley in Concert).
They appear to be AI generated.
Even the photos on the book covers are NOT Elvis!

As EIN noted in our recent review of 'EPiC' The Ultimate Movie Review',
"The book is AI generated and there is in fact NO PHOTO of Elvis anywhere in the book, nor any image from Baz Luhrmann's new movie. It is that bad.
NOTHING AT ALL is revealed about the actual film and it is obvious that the author has not even seen the movie! He knows nothing about Elvis nor where any of the remastered footage has come from and like all these recent AI publications it is purely there to deceive fans."

Buyer Beware!
The book by 'Johanna Grunwald' is unbelievably similar to the 'Kayden Darcy' book. It notes... "If the film stayed with you after the lights came up, this book meets you there. It does not retell what you saw. It slows the experience down, examining how performance, sound, editing, and restraint work together to create meaning without explanation. This is a guide for readers who want to watch more attentively, not more loudly." - REALLY!!! wtf.
(News, Source: Amazon; EIN) - See 'Elvis Book News 2026'

'EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert – The Ultimate Movie Review" Book Review: EIN bought this book so that hopefully you would not waste your money.
Hoping that the book of 154 pages might contain one iota of interest, EIN's Piers Beagley sadly discovered yet another book scam....
The book is supposedly written by 'Kayden Darcy' but the whole book appears to be 'AI' generated from general media releases.
Note that Kayden Darcy seems to publish a book several times a week on various hit movies!
The book is described as "A Deep Dive into Baz Luhrmann’s Documentary, Legendary Performances, and the Legacy of the King" but it is nothing of the kind. The book also supposedly.. "explores Elvis’s stagecraft, vocal control, vulnerability, and endurance, showing how the film reframes his later performances as acts of sustained artistry rather than decline."
However nothing about Elvis on stage in Las Vegas is actually discussed - in fact the International Hotel, Las Vegas is never mentioned in the book!

The cover of the book is notably not an image of Elvis, nor anything to do with Baz Luhrmann's new film.
In fact there is NO PHOTO of Elvis anywhere in the book, nor any image from Baz Luhrmann's new movie. It is that bad.

The repetitive 'AI' text is ridiculous this being a simple example..
"Elvis’s performances are presented as results of discipline, repetition, and

and decision-making. Songs are shaped with care, phrasing adjusted in real time, and energy conserved or released strategically. This emphasis reframes artistry as something sustained under pressure, not something that emerges effortlessly despite it. The film suggests that greatness at this level requires constant negotiation with expectation."
Later in the book very similar lines repeat...
- "The film suggests that greatness on this scale is not chaotic; it is engineered, practiced, and sustained through shared discipline."
- "By honoring function over recognition, the film reminds us that greatness— especially on this scale— is never solitary."

and "The film suggests that greatness is not defined by novelty, but by the ability to deliver meaning repeatedly without collapse."
NOTHING AT ALL is revealed about the actual film and it is obvious that the author has not even seen the movie!

Fans know that the key scenes in the actual movie include...
'How Great Thou Art', Hampton Roads - yet neither the song nor the venue are mentioned anywhere in the book.
Similarly 'Burning Love' nor the "all-new" 'That’s All Right' are mentioned in the book
The exciting 'Closer My God To Thee' (brand new footage) is not mentioned in the book.
Other familiar names and songs not featured in the book are James Burton, Charlie Hodge, Ronnie Tutt, Col Parker, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Hawaii, Greensboro, Jacksonville, the all important MGM rehearsals - even SUSPICIOUS MINDS is not mentioned anywhere in the book.

Amusingly there is a chapter on "Key Songs and Defining Moments" where the ONLY song that is mentioned is 'In The Ghetto' with the almighty revelation, "Songs such as In the Ghetto are framed with restraint, allowing the lyrics and vocal delivery to carry weight without visual distraction."
That is it - no other songs listed AT ALL!

Hilariously in the list "Complete Cast and Crew Credits" the book notes.
'Elvis Presley is the sole on-screen performer featured in the film'.
The Complete list of band members and musicians is...
Elvis Presley’s touring band members
Backing vocalists
Orchestral musicians
Conductors and musical directors featured in the original performances

The book states its purpose as.. "EPiC moves fast.. This review companion is written for those who want to return to the film with clearer eyes and deeper understanding, without losing the electricity that made the experience so powerful in the first place."
Yet there is no doubt that the "author" has not seen the movie, knows nothing about Elvis nor where any of the remastered footage has come from and like all these recent AI publications it is purely there to deceive fans.
I was ripped off - but purposely so that you would not make the same stupid mistake.

The Year Elvis Saved Valentine’s Day (novel): Hot on the heels of Elvis saving Christmas, author Joe Sims is back with another tale of Elvis saving… this time…Valentine’s Day.
The plot for the 272-page novel is:
“After the whirlwind events of The Night Elvis Saved Christmas, Elvis is back in Hollywood, trying to settle into normal mornings, normal quiet, and a life that is not being pulled by magic.
“Then Valentine’s Day begins to go wrong.
It starts small: hearts fading from cards, sweet words stuck behind teeth, kind gestures suddenly heavy. Across the city, good people cannot find the courage to say what they feel. Flowers wilt before they are given. Love songs lose their shine. And a soft gray shadow, old as loneliness, moves through the day, feeding on silence and doubt.
.. A messenger arrives with urgent news from a hidden Valentine world stitched between diners, dance floors, backstage hallways, and moonlit streets. Cupid and Psyche are caught in the middle of a dangerous split: love as a choice, or love as control. Aphrodite has her own plans. Eris does not need plans. She needs chaos. And Colonel Parker sees an opportunity to turn a heart into a headline.
.. With time running out and “LOVE NIGHT LIVE” closing in, Elvis has to do what he has always done best: stand in the gap, tell the truth, and fight for something real.”

Upcoming release in Poland- 'Elvis. Krol (W) Hollywood 1956-1962' (translation: Elvis King of Hollywood 1956-1962): This is the cover-art for Mariusz Ogieglo's Polish book 'Elvis. Krol (W) Hollywood' which should be available March-April 2026. The book is described as:
“In one of his early interviews Elvis once said: "All my life I wanted to be an actor. And although I never performed even in school plays, deep down I always hoped that one day I would get a chance to appear in a movie".
- The legendary King of Rock ‘n’ Roll got his chance to fulfill that dream in 1956, when he was cast in the western 'Love Me Tender,' alongside such stars of the era as Richard Egan and Debra Paget.
- The year 2026 marks the seventieth anniversary of Elvis’s big-screen debut, but also the sixty-fifth anniversary of the release of his most commercially successful film, the comedy 'Blue Hawaii'. It seemed to me a perfect occasion to present to you, the Readers, the result of several years of my work, the book 'Elvis: The King (in) Hollywood 1956-1962'.
“On nearly five hundred A5-format pages, it will include not only information about Presley’s first ten films, but also behind-the-scenes anecdotes, memories of actors and actresses who appeared alongside the famous singer, critics’ opinions, and detailed information about the cast and soundtrack albums.”

EIN Note: Despite the pr saying "Elvis' first ten films", 11 are in fact listed on the book cover!

The Imperials: Years of Impact 1968-1971 (David L. Taylor): This new 131-page book was released last week and is available in softcover and Kindle editions. Not surprisingly, as one of Elvis’ backing groups, the cover image features the Imperials with Elvis, while the back cover includes 12 album covers, five of which are Elvis releases.
The author is a retired journalist and full-time author. His new book is a follow up to his 2025 release the 283-page “Jewels in the Crown: Jake Hess and the Imperials 1963-1967”, also with some Elvis content.
- - - - - - Click image for full-size & both front & back covers

The new book is described as:
“Gospel music underwent great changes in the late 1960s with numerous influences from the secular music field becoming prominent in both studio recordings and live performances. Southern Gospel Music was changing from the standard four-part harmony with simple piano accompaniment to sophisticated arrangements and recordings.
“The Imperials, while continuing to present songs with a clear gospel message, began to introduce vocal arrangements akin to those of numerous secular vocal groups who were at the time topping the popular charts. This era included the rise of praise music, the advent of contemporary Christian music, the California-based Jesus music, and even the start of what would be called Christian rock. Their progressive approach to new musical directions led to backup vocal work with Elvis Presley, Jimmy Dean and Pat Boone.
“While on the cutting edge of the latest developments in musical styles and recording technology, The Imperials continued to present the Message in the most musically proficient, professional and spiritually-uplifting manner befitting the royalty and majesty of their name while

representing the King of kings. Inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1998, the members of this outstanding vocal group during the years 1968 through 1970 were Armond Morales, Jim Murray, Joe Moscheo II, Terry Blackwood and Roger Wiles.
Country singer Larry Gatlin briefly replaced Wiles in 1971 before being succeeded by Greg Gordon, formerly of the Chuck Country singer Larry Gatlin briefly replaced Wiles in 1971 before being succeeded by Greg Gordon, formerly of the Chuck Wagon Gang.”

'A Helluva Ride' Red & Pat West book Update:  According to photographer, Keith Alverson, Pat West (Red's wife) is scheduled to be at King Banquet Event Center in Memphis today Wednesday, January 7, 1-3pm. Pat will be signing photos and will have info about the new book "Helluva Ride", scheduled for possible publication in February 2026.
It was back in 2019 that EIN confirmed with co-author Jon W. Sparks that "Pat West and I have finished the book and our agent is working with it now. We’re hoping it will be published this year 2019, and I know fans will enjoy the stories about Elvis, some of them untold until now, and the extraordinary life of Red West who, as you know, was a very close friend and confidante of Elvis and who would make his own mark as a songwriter and actor in numerous TV shows and films."
EIN has reached out for an update.
... Red West and Elvis were friends ever since the day in high
school when Red broke up a plan by some punks in the boys room to give shy outsider Elvis an unwanted haircut with a pair of scissors. The events between that moment and Red’s death in 2017 could fill a book, and that’s just what he and his wife Pat were finishing up when an aortic aneurysm felled the man who was not only a friend and confidant to Elvis, but also someone who had carved out his own career as an acclaimed songwriter and film and television actor. I’ve had the privilege of working with Pat and Red to tell their story. There are hours of interviews, detailed notes, and memorable photographs going into the forthcoming book about this couple who have had the experiences of a lifetime.
In the early 1950s, of course, not a soul could have imagined that Red would become the first member of what would become the Memphis Mafia, that Elvis would become a global phenomenon, and that their relationship would have the ups and downs of the Zippin Pippin.
Red was in Germany when Elvis was drafted into the US Army.. “One day I walked into the living room in the house we were renting. Nobody else was around and Elvis was sitting in there alone, quiet and staring at the floor. I told him he looked like he’d had a rough day and asked if everything was all right.. “He looked up at me and said, ‘Red, I reached the top, man. I had it made and suddenly it was snatched away. I was drafted into the Army, then my mother dies while I’m in boot camp and I’m shipped to Germany and my father’s screwing a sergeant’s wife while the man’s away on duty freezing his ass off. I’m sick of this shit. I’m here and my career is finished. It’s hard to handle.’
'A Helluva Ride: Recollections of a Remarkable Life Before, During and After Elvis & The Memphis Mafia' by Red and Pat West with Jon W. Sparks, when published will be essential reading for all Elvis fans

She’d spent extensive time with him at Graceland. We still cared for each other."

We always remained friendly and would still get together."
It’s wonderful seeing your grandchild grow up, and she’s been so successful. We’re all very close, all of us in the family."

"It took me a while to finish it up – more than 11 months. You remember a lot of things, and it was a good thing to be honest. A lot of remembering wonderful times and difficult times, and you’re reliving your life."
I love doing these tours, talking, sharing, and of course answering questions. I get some good questions!"
One person asked if Elvis ever wore a toupee. Priscilla says: "No, that’s not true; that was his beautiful hair."
Priscilla's plans for 2026 involve "probably still going out touring with my show."
Elvis would have celebrated his 91st birthday on 8 January, and Priscilla ponders how he might have been in his nineties.
She says: "I think he’d be doing the same thing in life – singing and touring. He loved it."

Book Review- “Elvis Presley’s Gold Cadillac Limousine - The USA, Australian & New Zealand Tours” (Peter R. “Bob” Hayden): Australia’s most prolific Elvis book author, Bob Hayden, has released a “deluxe”, expanded edition of his critically acclaimed, and retitled, publication about (principally) the tour "downunder" of Elvis' Gold Cadillac limousine!

Including information on how the tour “downunder” was arranged, the author offers a “day-by-day” account of each town or city the Cadillac was on display around Australia. Promotion for the tour included significant media publicity and competitions in many areas to select “Elvis Presley’s Golden Girls”! It was a fascinating era for "Elvis" tours!

EIN’s Nigel Patterson has taken a ride in the golden chariot’s 3rd edition and was more than impressed with its performance improvements.

'From Here to the Great Unknown' US Paperback release: Elvis' granddaughter and CEO of 'EPE' Riley Keough announced that...
"Today the US paperback edition of my mother’s Autobiography 'From Here to the Great Unknown' (Oprah's Book Club) US Paperback edition is out.
I do wish she was here to have seen the overwhelming response her book. She would have been reading all of the comments and the dms about how many people related to her story in some way and found it to be cathartic.
I’m excited for this new little life the book is having and for it to end up in more people’s hands who may have the same experience.
Thanks to everyone on her behalf for all of the love and support."

Prior to the release of the book last year, Keough opened up about the process of finishing the book after Lisa Marie’s death, something she described as being “incredibly painful.”
Since her mom had recorded memories in audio tapes while working on the project, Keough remembered being “so afraid to hear my mother’s voice” as she combed through the stories Lisa Marie left behind.
“It was incredibly painful but I couldn’t stop. It was like she was in the room, talking to me. I instantly felt like a child again and I burst into tears.”
The book takes readers through a number of pivotal moments throughout Lisa Marie’s life, including the experience of losing her dad, the King of Rock and Roll, when she was only 9 years old.

You are a beautiful representative of your darling mama, Riley.
Congratulations on bringing Lisa Marie’s poignant story to life.

'Elvis Day By Day 2017' New Book: A bonus treat for Elvis collectors, Kees Mouwen's 'Elvis Day By Day 2017 - The Year In Review'.
This new volume in the Elvis Presley yearbook series returns to the 40th anniversary year of Elvis' untimely death, preserving his enduring legacy.
"It's rare when an artist's talent can touch an entire generation of people. It's even rarer when that same influence affects several generations. Elvis made an imprint on the world of pop music unequaled by any other single performer." - When American television and radio personality Dick Clark spoke these words, he couldn't have imagined they would still ring true so many years later.
The foreword was kindly written by Paul Sweeney. The book itself should be available mid November 2025.
... The year 2017 marked four decades since Elvis' death. Yet his music still topped charts worldwide, and he earned over a dozen new Gold and Platinum awards. Proof that Elvis "never left the building."
This yearbook series returns to the 40th anniversary year of Elvis's death, to preserve his enduring legacy. 2017 saw countless book, movie and music releases, perhaps too many for fans to easily distinguish what's truly worthwhile. Fans enjoyed numerous CD and vinyl releases, spanning Elvis' entire career, from the early SUN Records material on 'A Boy From Tupelo' to the 40th Anniversary Edition of 'Moody Blue'. In between there were themed compilations, FTD Classic Album re-issues and more, Mono to Stereo mixes, and numerous concert releases. Many of Elvis' movies were re-issued on DVD or upgraded to Blu-ray.
New books covered virtually every facet of Elvis' life. Music-focused titles ranged from individual songs to complete annotated overviews of his recordings. New books about his movies and documentaries while authors examined Elvis' impact on culture, his relationship with racism and spirituality and places Elvis visited from Germany to Hawaii. Other titles explored his famous Canadian (1957) and MSG (1972) performances, his TCB band, his Graceland Mansion, his iconic jumpsuits and much more.
2017 also saw the opening of the 'Elvis Presley's Memphis' complex, concert tours and the 'Elvis On Tour' exhibition at London's O2 Arena.

This yearbook preserves all the day-by-day information about every relevant Elvis release, event and milestone from 2017. Every publication is listed, and 55 in-depth reviews by Elvis writers, experts and fans add thoughtful insights from a 2017 perspective. This book comes with a warning: while browsing these pages, you may discover what you missed, and what you want to add to your collection! The expert reviews will offer food for thought, and guide you toward essential additions, while steering you away from disappointing ones.
This makes it a must-have book for serious Elvis fans and collectors.

'Elvis Religion and Spirituality' New Paul Belard Book: Prolific author Paul Belard has just published his newest book .. 'Elvis Religion and Spirituality as seen through his possessions', an interesting topic that hasn't been explored in detail before.
The description notes..
Early in his career, Elvis said: “I believe in the Bible. I believe that all good things come from God. I don’t believe I’d sing the way I do if God hadn’t wanted me to.” He considered that music was like a religion: “When you experience them both, it should move you.” His devotion to music associated with religion never wavered. He described Gospel music as “the purest thing there is on this earth.”
Elvis’ relationship to faith throughout his life was infinitely more complex. He was a multi-layered individual. His Pentecostal roots ran deep and he mostly identified himself as a Christian. However, in the mid-sixties and further on, he became more of a spiritual seeker, intent on exploring the teachings of various religions. In his own words, “All I want is to know and experience God. I’m a searcher, that’s what I’m all about.”
.. This book aims to tell the story of Elvis’ spirituality through images and objects that belonged to him or which he gave as gifts. Material objects, in fact, are an integral part of our psychic and emotional life, they contribute to building our personality.. They closely follow love relationships, mark family histories, show the essence and spirituality of the people who have owned them.”

The book is 334 pages, out 28 October

The publicity notes... For the first time, take an in-depth look at the fashion pieces that defined the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s style and career, with more than 150 pieces from the archives at Graceland including early suits, jumpsuits, capes, belts, jewelry, designer sketches, and more.
In the history of Rock ‘n Roll, no performer ever defined a style like Elvis. From his rockabilly suits of the 1950s to the jeweled jumpsuits of the 1970s, the King’s on-stage fashion became as iconic as his music. Now, for the first time, the Graceland archives open their doors for this once-in-a-lifetime look at the stagewear of the King. From the now-iconic gold lamé suit in the 1950s and the leather suit from the 1968 Comeback Special to the last jumpsuit Elvis wore onstage in Indianapolis, this comprehensive book contains more than 150 pieces of stagewear spanning Elvis’s entire career. Stunning jumpsuits, beautifully detailed capes, numerous belts, two-piece suits, studded boots, jewelry, and even chokers that were created for Elvis but never worn on stage are all featured in beautiful new photography created especially for this book. Also included are suits that until now have never been seen as their complete sets, including three Cisco Kid two-piece outfits worn in Las Vegas in 1971, and two of Elvis’s Dude Suits, worn in Las Vegas in 1972.
Detailed information from the archives about the suits, including the definitive list of names for the jumpsuits, and fascinating historical context and insights about the detailing and construction of the pieces
from noted costume historian Karan Feder, accompany stunning detail photography of each piece. Lavishly illustrated with new photography of each piece in the archive, images of Elvis on stage in the pieces and album covers on which they appear, rare sketches from costume designer Bill Belew, and more, this beautiful book is a look at the King’s style like never before.

This book reveals all the secrets behind Elvis’ most iconic records: the legendary five Sun singles!
How many variations of Elvis’ legendary Sun 209 actually exist?
It includes hundreds of high-resolution photographs showing all known variations and expert analysis that separates myth from fact.

If Elvis hadn't walked into the Memphis Recording Service in mid-1953 our world might be very different today. It was his crucial SUN singles that would not only be the bedrock of his stunning legacy but the music on those fragile pieces of shellac would also go on to change the history of rock'n'roll and popular culture.

EIN's Piers Beagley spent a weekend enthralled in this beautifully presented book and found that there is far more to discover than just the examination of each variation of Elvis' SUN singles.
We guarantee it will make you want to spin your old vinyl!

Paul Dowling ‘Worldwide Elvis RCA Vinyl Discography' Book: Today Paul Dowling celebrates 51 Years in the Elvis business!
The publication of his massive 'Worldwide Elvis RCA Vinyl Discography' was announced around 5 years ago, even though Dowling notes he has been working on it for decades.
Back in 2016 Dowling told EIN, "It was 1992 when Bernadette Moore (in charge of the BMG Archives, New York) invited me to come up there and do research for my huge Worldwide Discography book which is now around 4000 pages but of course it still hasn't come out as I have found tons and tons of new information and continue to do so daily.
Bernadette gave me total access to any and all files they had on Elvis' vinyl and I found many that even people up there never knew they still had. I came home with over 3000 photocopies of listing notices, production cards, pre production cards, inner office cards, and more.."

Good news as today Dowling posted..
COMING EARLY 2026! A five volume (or more!) series of WORLDWIDE ELVIS RCA vinyl discography books which will include information, including photos, of all label and covers of every 78, single, EP, LP, and promos that were ever issued on RCA in 63 countries!

Note: The book cover shown is not the final version.

Paul Dowling is without doubt one of the major names in the Elvis World. He started collecting and selling Elvis vinyl over 50 years ago and probably has the world's largest Elvis Presley record collection.
The 2012 book 'Bootleg Elvis' helped explain how a group of super-keen Elvis fans from around the world, including Paul Dowling, created the fascinating world of Elvis vinyl bootlegs to satisfy demands of Elvis collectors who were being ignored by RCA at the time. In the book Dowling is credited as "revolutionizing the Elvis bootleg scene" due to his desire to create high-quality product that would be even better than the official RCA output.

'Elvis & the Story of the 68 Special' (Simon Goddard): The cover artwork for this May 19, 2026 REISSUE has been released – the book was originally published in 2018. The book from Omnibus Press will contain 368 pages and be available in hardcover, softcover and Kindle formats.
The book description:
.. As 1968 dawns, the once King of rock'n'roll faces cultural oblivion. While elsewhere the Sixties are swinging, for Elvis they're sinking- in terrible films, drug addiction, paranoia, religious mania and the mercenary wiles of his psychopathic manager. In the words of the hip young director assigned to his first TV special, Elvis' reputation was "in the toilet." However the same director, Steve Binder, was now about to save it. Together they would embark on the biggest creative fight of Elvis' life.
The Comeback plots the incredible true story of Elvis' fall and rise from Army discharge to iconic black leather resurrection. Simon Goddard takes the reader inside the life, music and mind of Elvis, isolated from an America unravelling in its own Sixties chaos of war, racism, riots and assassinations, until his world and theirs collide in the greatest performance of his life.
A genre-busting modernist rock'n'roll fable unlike any music biography you've ever read, The Comeback is the definitive account of how it took Elvis eight years on the big screen to lose his crown - but just one magical hour on a small one to win it back.

EIN's "mini review" of Priscilla Presley's new memoir, "Softly, As I Leave You….Life After Elvis": Following its official release the hardcover edition of Priscilla’s new book has risen to #48 on Amazon's "Top 100 in Books" list and is highly ranked (top 3) in various Amazon genre lists. On September 25 it was #2 on Amazon's "Best Sellers in Actor & Entertainer Biographies" list, held from the top spot by Charlie Sheen's "The Book of Sheen".

Not surprisingly, the book includes a lot of information not in Priscilla's original 1985 memoir, "Elvis and Me".
This includes her post 1985 film and TV career, her son Navarone, both the Baz Luhrmann film, "ELVIS", and the Sophia Coppola film, "Priscilla", Lisa Marie inheriting "Graceland", Lisa Marie's marriages, and poignant accounts of the deaths of Lisa Marie and her son Benjamin.
The narrative flows between highs and lows and fun and heartache.

The book contains a significant amount of content about Lisa Marie and about Navarone (it is obvious how close Priscilla is to her son)!
While Priscilla spent 22 years in a relationship with Marco Garibaldi (father of Navarone), you wouldn't know it reading this memoir. Marco is barely mentioned.
Priscilla doesn't hold back on her view that "Michael (Jackson) was a manipulative man".

Other accounts involve a "scary" Church of Scientology, the always impressive Leslie Nielsen, and (at one point) a "naked" Michael Edwards - the controversial Edwards and Lisa Marie issue is also addressed.

Priscilla's references to "Riley and her husband" come across (to EIN anyway) as impersonal and there is no discussion of the legal case involving Priscilla and Riley. These, together with the "absence" of Marco Garibaldi, unbalance the narrative.

Various chapter titles, taken from both the Elvis Presley and Lisa Marie Presley songbooks, reflect themes in the book, including "Separate Ways", "Suspicious Minds", "Don't Be Cruel", "Memories", "Storm and Grace" and "Lights Out" (this chapter being about Lisa Marie's passing).

The book is an easy and entertaining (at times sad) read but nothing in it is likely to assuage the views of those with a dislike for Priscilla Presley.
It also features many rare "family" photographs.

'Surviving Elvis' David Stanley new book?: Elvis' stepbrother David Stanley has previously published multiple books on his life with Elvis.
These include...
My Brother Elvis: The Final Years.
Conversations with the King: The Enduring Spiritual Legacy of Elvis Presley
Life With Elvis
Raised on Rock: Growing Up at Graceland
The Elvis Encyclopedia

Stanley has now announced that he is working on yet another new book 'Surviving Elvis' to be published later this year - and fans have the option to choose the colour of the cover.
EIN notes that unfortunately the picture on the cover is not Elvis but an impersonator! C'mon.....

Go here to David Stanley Facebook to vote

- Also there is no new update on the announced 'One of The Boys' a "David E. Stanley film" about the stepsons life with Elvis. This was announced back in March 2025 noting ...

... - David Stanley posted that..  Billy, Myself and Ricky lived a life with our brother Elvis that fans from around the world can only dream of.  We lived the history firsthand. Before Priscilla and Lisa, before all the girl friends who came and went and through ups and downs that was Elvis’s life, we stood by Elvis our beloved Brother.
Today Vernon and Elvis are gone, Ricky has passed and most of the so called Memphis Mafia are also dead.
After much consideration and much prayer Billy and I have decided to pull all our resources and memories together to do a major motion picture project.  The true and untold story of Billy, Ricky, and David Stanley "ELVIS One of The BOYS".

However EIN noted that the same project was also announced back in April 2024 after the success of the movies 'ELVIS' and 'Priscilla' as a "project is being shopped to streaming networks.... a six part mini series for every year 1972-1977"
That got nowhere so perhaps the project has stopped once again.
We await further updates...

(Book Review) 'Make the Dream Real: World-Building Performance by El Vez, The Mexican Elvis': Many fans will not be familiar with El Vez, the Mexican Elvis, and you are missing out if you don’t.
His blend of colorful punk visual style and politically infused revisionist lyrics to Elvis songs make El Vez one of the most unusual, most important, and most challenging, of performance artists.
El Vez is unique among those interpreting Elvis’ song repertoire in that he makes them a political statement, changing lyrics to highlight social injustice /exclusion, economic inequality and rancid cultural mores, suggesting something very different..
A new (academic) book, Make the Dream Real, lifts the lid on the world of El Vez and its importance in a politically fractured and unequal world.
EIN’s Nigel Patterson provides a detailed review of what is a stunning, entertaining, and thought-provoking release.

'The King and the Jester' (Paul Belard) - Kindle edition: Those looking for the counter to Peter Guralnick's controversial, The Colonel and the King, should check out Paul Belard's The King and the Jester.
Initially published last year as a softcover, it is now also available in Kindle format.
... Throughout the book, Belard raises serious questions about Parker’s life and mismanagement of his client. The well-known contracts favoring Parker over Elvis, the numbing effect on Elvis of formulaic films, the Colonel’s status as an illegal alien, his jealousy of the adulation Elvis received, the list is a long one.
One of the strong things about Belard's narrative is that he moves beyond the superficial to detail how what transpired stifled, muffled, and strangled Elvis Presley's career! ...

The “Jerry Schilling” scam….. "alleged" new book by Memphis Mafia member, Jerry Schilling - "Revolutinary of Graceland and the Great Memphis Majfia - Elviss Presslin": This is a detailed account of last week's "fake" book announcement on Facebook attempting to "rip off" Elvis fans. It is an example of how easy it can be to scam people out of money!

- EIN reveals the clues fans should have spotted.
- That Jerry Schilling does not have any Social Media presence
- That EIN advised both Facebook and EPE leading to the removal of the offending page.

Go here as Nigel Patterson reveals the full story.
Thanks to EIN many unsuspecting fans were saved from the scam - which had already cost some enthusiasts between US$120 and US$180 and possibly their credit card details .
