Elvis Returns To Billboard Christmas Charts: Forbes has once again noted Elvis' chart popularity at Christmas.
.. Elvis Presley is one of a handful of musical acts who still manages to return to the Billboard charts every December thanks to their popular holiday music. Presley’s “Blue Christmas” stands out among the many, many holiday cuts and his 'The Classic Christmas Album' becomes a winner again charting at #55 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. Elvis sees both of those titles return to multiple Billboard charts this week. 'Blue Christmas' returns to both the Streaming Rock Songs chart and the Billboard Global 200 this period, reentering those competitive tallies at 24 and 60 respectively. 'Blue Christmas' can also be found on multiple other Billboard charts, and it is on the rise on several other competitive rosters. The track inches one space north on both the Holiday Streaming Songs list and the Holiday 100, settling at Numbers 20 and 21, respectively.

'Elvis Last Tours Vol.3' In-depth FTD Review: FTD's 3-CD 5”digipak 'Elvis: The Last Tours Volume 3' features recordings from six Elvis performances in April 1977, Toledo April 23, Ann Arbor April 24, Kalamazoo April 26, Milwaukee April 27, Duluth April 29 and St. Paul April 30.
By 1977 Elvis was running on low, his set-list had become stagnant and fans were lucky to hear Elvis perform any rare song in his predictable set-list.
However this late April tour found Elvis in much better form than his previous one, possibly because girlfriend Ginger Alden accompanied him - and it is notable that songs such as Polk Salad were being performed again. ‘Ann Arbor’ was one of Elvis’ best performances of 1977. It was the only time Elvis sang ‘Unchained Melody’ on this tour and it would be the last time he ever sang ‘Little Darlin’ - with both tracks featuring on Elvis’ ‘Moody Blue’ album. Elvis soundboard super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell along with EIN's Piers Beagley explore this new six concert pack in-depth to see what fans might discover.. 'Sunset Boulevard' Q&A and Listening Session: From Elvis Week in Memphis Sony /RCA's special "Sunset Boulevard" listening event to celebrate the release of the box-set that chronicles Elvis’ recording sessions and rehearsals at RCA’s legendary Los Angeles studios.
Unfortunately neither Ernst Jorgensen nor Roger Semon were there for this year's listening event.
Tom Brown instead chats with Matt Ross-Spang and Jerry Schilling about their stories of Elvis recording at these LA sessions.
It is good to hear from Jerry Schilling, who was there at the time, even if he reveals little that's new. Matt Ross-Spang provides some good insights into the new mixes.
Interestingly he chooses 'Bringing It Back' as his favourite song. (News, Source;EPE/ElvisInfoNet)
'ELVIS: Sunset Boulevard' in the charts: Sadly RCA / SONY's new release 'ELVIS: Sunset Boulevard' has not yet hit the US Billboard album charts.
However in Europe the Elvis fans have been far more proactive.
On the Scottish album charts (while 'Bite Me' by Reneé Rapp is at number one ) 'Sunset Boulevard' is a new entry at #5!
On the Official U.K. Album charts
'Sunset Boulevard' enters at #67 ('ELVIS 30 #1 Hits' still at #60) UK Vinyl Album Chart it is at #11, while on the Physical Album chart it is #5. 'Sunset Boulevard' is also
#18 on the Dutch Album chart.
#17 on the German Album chart.
#86 on the Irish Album chart.
Sadly no sign of it in the Australian Top 50 yet. (News, Source;OfficialCharts/EIN)

'ELVIS: Sunset Boulevard' OUT NOW: The new RCA / Legacy release 'Elvis Presley: Sunset Boulevard' is out now.
An unprecedented look into Elvis’ Los Angeles studio sessions (1970–1975). 89 tracks of rarities + new and never-heard mixes in 5-cd, digital formats, plus a 2-LP ‘highlights’ edition.
It is a definitive 5-CD collection chronicling Elvis’ recording sessions and rehearsals at RCA’s legendary Los Angeles studios. Spanning 89 rarities (over half of which have only been previously released via FTD) 'Sunset Boulevard' delivers illuminating perspective onto Elvis’ 1970s recording output. This includes rare alternate studio versions of late-period gems like 'Separate Ways' - widely seen as the most autobiographical song Elvis ever recorded - 'T-R-O-U-B-L-E' and 'Burning Love.' .
The first two discs (as released on the 2 LP ‘highlights’ vinyl set) feature new and never-heard mixes of the 1972 session plus 1975's 'Today' album from Matt Ross-Spang - stripping all overdubs and delivering fresh insights in the process.
The final three cds are a behind-the-scenes look featuring L.A. rehearsals for Elvis' up-coming Las Vegas shows from July 1970 and August 1974 with his iconic TCB Band. Elvis pours himself into every line - with no one listening but his band and the engineer in the control room - as his lifelong love of performing is on full display. 'ELVIS: Sunset Boulevard' New SONY release: RCA / Legacy recordings announce 'Elvis Presley: Sunset Boulevard' out August 1.
An unprecedented look into Elvis’ Los Angeles studio sessions (1970–1975). 89 tracks of rarities + new and never-heard mixes to be released in 5-cd and digital formats, alongside a 2-LP ‘highlights’ edition.
This includes rare alternate studio versions of late-period gems like 'Separate Ways' - widely seen as the most autobiographical song Elvis ever recorded - 'T-R-O-U-B-L-E' which channeled the groundbreaking signature vocal style from his earlier years, and 'Burning Love' the 40th and final Top Ten US single of his career.
The collection’s first two discs (as released on the 2 LP ‘highlights’ vinyl set) feature new and never-heard mixes from four-time GRAMMY winner Matt Ross-Spang - stripping all overdubs and delivering
Opening with seventeen classics from throughout Elvis’ time in RCA Studio C, these mixes provide an intimate glimpse into the ways his riveting voice interacts with material from the era’s greatest songwriters: Kris Kristofferson’s 'For The Good Times' (a 1972 b-side), Paul Williams’ 'Where Do I Go From Here' (1973), plus 1975's Billy Swan’s 'I Can Help' (1975) and Don McLean’s 'And I Love You So' among them.
Ross-Spang’s stripped-down mixes equally bolster the seventeen studio outtakes that comprise the set’s second piece.
(click for high-res)
The final three cds are a behind-the-scenes look at Elvis’ history-making Las Vegas residency, featuring Los Angeles rehearsals from July 1970 and August 1974 with his iconic TCB Band. Throughout the sessions, Elvis pours himself into every line - with no one listening but his band and the engineer in the control room - as his lifelong love of performing is on full display.
Notable among the 1974 recordings are two featured tracks that Elvis never made studio versions of - 'Twelfth of Never' (originally a hit for Johnny Mathis) and 'Softly As I Leave You' - which finds him narrating a prologue about the song’s purported origins (inspired by Charles Boyer). Elvis’ instinctive chemistry with The TCB Band is palpable throughout both rehearsals, perhaps owing to his decision to record with a road band for the first time during this era. - (click for high-res)
The 5-CD set and digital formats, including rare archival photographs and new liner notes from music historian Colin Escott.
Also available August 1 will be a 2-LP ‘highlights’ VINYL edition, comprising the newly-mixed studio recordings and outtakes - which will also be available in the above Graceland Exclusive Color Variant.

FTD Releases Delayed until JUNE: The FTD label have announced that the upcoming release of 'Girl Happy Special Vinyl Edition' has been delayed due to "production issues."
'Elvis: June 75' In-depth FTD Review: A new 4CD digi-set 'Elvis June 1975' featuring soundboards of four shows from Mobile A/S June 2, Houston E/S June 5, Shreveport A/S June 7 and Jackson A/S June 8 1975.
Disappointingly for collectors all the performances on this new FTD set have been out on bootleg before. However, with the barrel almost bare, there has to be plenty to enjoy in these mid-75 performances.
After all, After all, "This mid-1975 period was a positive return for Elvis. Elvis' good mood throughout is truly infectious and along with his well-sung and committed performances they all go to making these concerts worth listening to."
At the Houston Evening Show Elvis was buzzing with energy, while at the Jackson Afternoon Show the flies were buzzing Elvis! There is plenty of fun to hear and it was always a very fine set-list. Elvis soundboard super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell along with EIN's Piers Beagley explore this new set.... (FTD Reviews; Source;ElvisInformationNetwork)
'Elvis ’57: The Final Fifties Tours' New FTD Book:'Elvis ’57: The Final Fifties Tours' is a new 500-page FTD book release. It comes with a compact 33rpm EP.
The book features over 300 photos many rare and unpublished.
...In 1957, Elvis Aron Presley was still a one man phenomenon with six titles on the charts, one movie to his credit, and two movies soon to follow. But while he pursued his dream of becoming a Hollywood actor, the military draft threatened to shatter it along with his wildly successful rock ‘n’ roll career. Elvis couldn’t resist the excitement he found performing on stage before swarms of shrieking teenage girls, and in that final year before he entered the U.S. Army, he went back on the road for three short tours.
(Click for high-res image)
'Elvis ’57' recalls that magical year when the King played to audiences a quarter of a million people strong, and controversy and pandemonium accompanied him wherever he went.
Alan Hanson takes us for a rollicking ride through eighteen major cities in the United States and Canada. Elvis wore his famed gold lame suit and thirteen girls fainted in an effort to reach him. In Vancouver, British Columbia, thousands left their seats and rushed the stage, forcing him to abruptly end the show.
Drawing on first-hand accounts from the disc-jockeys on the front lines of Elvis’s exploding career and fans who attended the ’57 concerts, Hanson sweeps you back to the years that forever changed the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
EIN Note; Hanson's original paperback 'Elvis ’57: The Final Fifties Tours' was sensational (see EIN review)
He has also published the very enjoyable 'Elvis: The Movies' via 'The Elvis Files'.
Back in 2015 'The Elvis Files' also published the 416-page 'A Touch Of Gold Lame' which included hundreds of stunning photos from Elvis' 1957 concerts.
Not forgetting Paul Sweeney's fabulous 'One Night In Toronto'
It will be interesting to see how the books compare. (News, Source;FTD/ElvisInfoNet)

FTD's 2012 release of a previously unheard soundboard 'Another Saturday Night' from Shreveport June 7, 1975 was the real delight.
Disappointingly all the performances on this new FTD set have been out on bootleg before.
EIN previously reviewed this tour's concerts as, "This mid-1975 period was a positive return for Elvis and found him looking and sounding healthy and happy. Being a popular period perhaps the set-list is a little familiar and FTD collectors will no doubt have heard a few similar 1975 shows before.
However Elvis’ good mood throughout is truly infectious and along with his well-sung and committed performances they all go to making these concerts worth listening to." - see 'Elvis: Spirit Of Jackson'
Previous bootleg releases of these shows all in good sound quality..

'Elvis Last Tours Vol.2' In-depth FTD Review: FTD's 3-CD 5”digipak 'Elvis: The Last Tours Volume 2' features recordings from six Elvis performances in March 1977, Norman OK March 25 & 26 , Abilene Tx March 27, Austin Tx March 28 and Alexandria LA March 29 & 30.
By 1977 Elvis was running on low, his set-list had become stagnant and fans were lucky to hear Elvis perform any rare song in his predictable set-list.
Elvis was not in good health, had been rowing with girlfriend Ginger Alden and the last four dates of this second tour of 1977 had to be cancelled.
So one has to ask how much do you enjoy Elvis’ performances in 1977? Five of these soundboards have never been released before and it is Elvis’ Abilene concert that is the real highlight.
Of course, if you are a collector who appreciates Elvis in 1977 then this set might be perfect for your collection. Elvis soundboard super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell along with EIN's Piers Beagley explore this new six concert pack in-depth to see what fans might discover.. 'Elvis Last Tours Vol.1' In-depth FTD Review: FTD's 4-CD 5”digipak 'Elvis: The Last Tours Volume 1' features recordings from seven Elvis performances in February 1977, West Palm Beach (Feb 13), St. Petersburg (Feb 14), Montgomery (Feb 16), Columbia (18), Johnson City (19) and Charlotte (20/21).
By 1977 Elvis was running on low, his set-list had become stagnant and fans were lucky to hear Elvis perform any rare song in his predictable set-list.
Elvis did not look healthy at the start of this tour but his weight and voice definitely improved as the tour progressed.
So one has to ask how much do you enjoy Elvis’ performances in 1977? There were certainly a few highlights but overall most of these concerts sound all too similar.
Of course if you are a collector who appreciates Elvis in 1977 then this set might be perfect for your collection. FTD 'California Holiday' LP - More Delays: The FTD special double-vinyl of Elvis’ 1966 soundtrack to 'California Holiday' aka 'Spinout', was supposed to be released back in September 2024. After months of delays it is now apparently delayed yet again for a later December release.
In October 1966 an MGM UK representative announced that California Holiday would have its world premiere in London, and that the original US title, Spinout, was changed because it was felt that would have more appeal to British and overseas audiences. Spinout was only used in the US and Canada.
This unique FTD limited edition is based on the original UK release and features the red dot RCA Victor label.
The double album includes the original soundtrack masters, studio outtakes and bonus tracks.

- 'California Holiday': FTD Vinyl is pleased to announce the release of a special double-vinyl of Elvis’ 1966 soundtrack to 'California Holiday' aka 'Spinout'.

'ELVIS / MEMPHIS' In-depth Review: The SONY RCA 'ELVIS / MEMPHIS' 2024 5-CD box-set was released last month.
The publicity promised.. "MEMPHIS is a comprehensive collection that takes listeners through the many recordings Elvis had done while in Memphis - from his songs at SUN Records, to his American Studio and Stax sessions, through to his 1974 hometown show and finally, his last recordings in Graceland.
This 5-CD collection of Elvis’ songs over the years features 111 tracks, 88 of which are newly mixed versions of the select recordings, pure and without overdubs."
The five CDs each focus on SUN Records, American Studios, Stax Studios, LIVE Mid-South Coliseum Memphis and Graceland. Elvis fans have of course bought these tracks multiple times before and FTD have even released most of the "Undubbed masters".
However with 'ELVIS / MEMPHIS' engineer Matt Ross-Spang remixing these crucial recordings, often creating something unique and new for 2024 and there is much to enjoy.
In fact listening to this set is like a five-course 'MEMPHIS degustation' since every individual recording session has a different flavour and vibe. . Go here as EIN's Piers Beagley provides a 5,500 word review checking out every track to reveal what new excitements fans might discover..
